Tips for Cheap Air Fare to London

Tips for Cheap Air Fare to London

It’s hard to imagine that you can get cheap air fare to London. This is a prime destination point for business and leisure trips. You can hardly expect such a sought-after location to come cheap. There may however, still be some ways to get discount tickets to London.

Air Fare Specialists

One of the most popular ways to get cheap air fare to London is to get tickets from air fare specialists. There are now many online companies that specialize in consolidating and offering cheaper airfare options. You are guaranteed to get a few dollars off from most of these sites. Different sites however, have slightly different rates. You should consider more than just one air fare site and compare their rates to get the best deal.

Carriers

It is a fact that the name of an airline carrier has a bearing on ticket price. If you want cheaper fares, then you can simply choose a lesser known airline carrier. They would of course have cheaper fares. Otherwise, even their limited number of customers wouldn’t consider flying with them. Be prepared though, cheaper tickets from these airlines will also give you what you paid for. Cheap airlines do not have the same amenities, benefits and services as popular airlines.

Trip Schedule

You can get cheap air fare to London if you travel on days that aren’t in demand. It is almost certain that weekends, specifically Saturdays are peak times for London trips. You get a better chance of getting cheap tickets from Monday to Thursday. Airlines cut ticket prices on these days to encourage more travelers to buy tickets. This scheme though means that you have to be flexible with you plans for travel to and from London.

Travel Seasons

Aside from considering your day travel schedule, you should also consider your month of travel. London will be a top tourist destination on certain times of the year. These are usually summer and the holidays. You can therefore expect high rates from July to August and on the last two weeks of December. The best time to travel to London is off peak season from January to March. Tickets on these months are definitely cost less than the usual.

Early Booking

Planning your trip way ahead of time will help you save on tickets. Airlines give discounts to passengers who book months in advance. Some airlines will allow as much as 9 months booking in advance. If you can manage to plan this much early, then you can surely cut your fare prices.

Promos

Most airlines have regular promos. You might be able to save total costs if you book with a group. There may also be discounts if you buy round-trip tickets. Always check with the specific airline though, there might be some variations to this well-known general promo. There may also be some special London promos. Keep your senses alert for airline contests that could win you discounts or free tickets.

Holidays are great, a time to relax, be with the family, play with the kids, explore, romance your loved one…or are they? If you have back problems you may be thinking it is easier to stay at home…

For many of us with back pain and sciatica symptoms just the very thought of a long journey, a strange bed, a lot of sitting, standing and traveling just doesn’t seem worth it. However with a few back pain relief travel tips you may reconsider…

With the onset of a ruptured disc and back pain I gave up holidays, and so did my family. That was just a miserable time for us all. Then I thought there must be a way. Whether it is a short trip or a long haul flight here are some hot tips for back pain relief during travel. For more detail feel free to visit www.mypetback.com

1. Before you travel.

• First it is very important you contact your doctor to see if you are safe to travel with your back condition and that it will not compromise any back pain relief program you are undertaking.

• Check you can get proper travel insurance and do shop around and make sure you are well covered.

• If you require medication for you to get back pain relief make sure you carry enough for the duration of your travels and take some extra in case of delays. Ensure you carry your medications in your hand luggage and in their original labeled containers. Check with airline before booking your flights for the latest regulations.

• Try to book an aisle seat.

Travel Tips: Your Flight to Hawaii

Travel Tips: Your Flight to Hawaii

One of the most frequented questions on my blog is if you need a passport to visit Hawaii. If you are a U.S. citizen the answer is no. Hawaii is the 50th U.S. state so there is no need for a passport. It is no different than from going from say, Nevada to California except the long flight of course.

Flying to Hawaii can be a very long trip if you haven’t planned right for it, especially if you have kids along. Flight times vary from around 6 hours from Los Angeles or San Francisco, 8 hours from Salt Lake City and around 12 hours from New York and as long as 17.5 hours from the UK.

To keep your kids busy bring along some books or a portable DVD player and a couple DVD’s to help keep them occupied. Make sure the DVD player is fully charged or has new batteries so it will last long enough for the flight. Don’t forget the headphones! People in the neighboring seats don’t want to hear the Barney song all through the flight. Most flights should have an in-flight movie to watch as well.

If you are bringing an infant be sure your car seat has the FAA approval sticker on it somewhere or you won’t be able to use it. Have an ample supply of diapers, wipes and powdered formula as well. A few dry snacks are also a good idea especially if your kids are picky eaters, they might not like the food served on the plane so bring something you know they will eat. You can bring fruits and vegetables on the plane and eat them there, but you cannot take them off the plane in Hawaii. Also be prepared to fill out the Agricultural form in flight so keep a pen handy.

I usually fly the red eye out of Las Vegas at 2 am so it is dark and much easier to sleep through the six to seven hour flight. The flights can get a little chilly since you are sitting in an air conditioned place for so long so bring a light jacket, you are likely to need one sometime during your Hawaii trip anyway, keep it handy in your carry-on.

The flight is a good time to reread any Activity brochures you may have picked up or to go over your itinerary to make sure you time is wisely spent, or just sit back and relax and prepare yourself for the slower lifestyle of Hawaii, after all you are going to Hawaii!…

Redwood National Park: Three Tips to Effectively Travel to Redwood by Amtrak Train and Bus

Redwood National Park: Three Tips to Effectively Travel to Redwood by Amtrak Train and Bus

Redwood National Park was created in 1968 to protect land adjacent to the California state redwood parks that were formed in the 1920s.  Currently the combined state and federal lands are administered under a joint agreement between the National Park Service and the California Department of Parks and Recreation.  The combined parks cover over 110,000 acres including 37 miles of pristine California coastline.

Since Delta is the only commercial airline into the local airport, it is expensive to fly into the area.  Although not close to an Amtrak train line, there is bus service from Amtrak stations to the Redwood area, which may be the cheapest way to travel to the park.  Here are three tips/hints for effectively traveling to/from Redwood by land:

One:  Martinez, California is your Amtrak connection to Redwood National Park.  The San Joaquin line from Bakersfield (with connecting service from San Diego and Los Angeles) and Oakland (with connecting service from San Francisco) stops there.  Martinez is also on the Capitol Corridor line from San Jose, Oakland and Sacramento (with connecting service from Reno.)  From Martinez, there are two Amtrak Thruway Motorcoaches departing at 10:25 am and 3:25 pm for the six to seven hour ride to the Redwood area.

Two:  Since there is no shuttle service at Redwood National Park, you must rent a car to see the entire park.  Therefore, the McKinleyville stop at the Arcata Airport is the destination for your bus ride.  If you arrive before the rental car counters close in the early evening, you have a choice of companies from which to rent.  If you arrive when the rental car counters are closed, you can take a complementary shuttle bus to your hotel for the night and come back to the airport in the morning to rent your car.  There are a number of hotels in the area that will provide this service.  The motorcoaches back to Martinez leave McKinleyville at 6:15 am and 10:30 am.

Three:  The need to make reservations for the train portion of your trip depends on the service you take.  Although the Capitol Corridor trains are unreserved, the San Joaquins are all-reserved trains.  Although you do not need reservations for the Thruway Motorcoach Connection service, you may be able to receive discounted advance purchase fares or special fares for students and seniors by buying both your train and bus ticket in advance.…

Vancouver Winter Olympics: Five Tips to Travel to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games by Amtrak

Vancouver Winter Olympics: Five Tips to Travel to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games by Amtrak

Vancouver, British Columbia is an ideal location for the Olympic Winter Games.  It is a major metropolitan area with significant infrastructure, close to world-class mountains and in a country that loves winter sports.  The city’s international culture embodies strong elements from both the East and West.

Another feature of this location is its proximity to the United States.  Situated approximately 40 miles from the US/Canada border, Vancouver will be easy to reach by land.  You may wish to consider rail travel as a relaxing and affordable method to travel to the Games.  Given the elevated demand for airline seats into Vancouver around the time of the Olympics, a land alternative may be the most enjoyable way to get to Vancouver.

Here are five tips/hints for effectively traveling to/from the Vancouver Winter Olympics by Amtrak:

One:  You must first decide your gateway city.  Seattle and Portland, Oregon are the logical choices.  Although both cities enjoy great air service, you may wish to take the Empire Builder from Chicago or Minneapolis/St. Paul to either gateway city.  You will experience the vast Northern plains and the scenic Rocky Mountains (including Glacier National Park) along the way.  Alternatively, you can fly into California and take the Coast Starlight north from Los Angeles or Oakland.  Like the Empire Builder, this train has Superliner sleeper accommodations.  Finally, there is Amtrak Cascades service five times a day between Portland and Seattle.

Two:  Once you reach Seattle, you have multiple means of transportation north to the Olympic Games.  You can travel on one of two Amtrak Cascades trains that include a stop in Bellingham, Washington before arriving in Vancouver.  Alternatively, you can connect to an Amtrak Thruway Motorcoach that only stops in Surrey and Richmond, British Columbia before its arrival in Vancouver.  If you really want to explore numerous modes of transportation, you can take the Victoria Clipper high-speed catamaran from Seattle to Victoria, BC and the Pacific Coast Lines bus service from Victoria to Vancouver.

Three:  The next decision is where to stay.  Most people will elect to find lodging in Vancouver.  The Pacific Central Station, Amtrak’s depot in Vancouver, is two blocks from the Main Street – Science World station on TransLink’s SkyTrain service.  Four TransLink and two Coast Mountain bus lines run close to the train station.  You will want your hotel to be close to a transit lines since there will not be any private automobile parking at the Olympic venues.  The good news is that your Olympic event ticket gives you unlimited, free access to the TransLink system on the day of that event and the early morning of the next day.

Four:  Two alternative bases for the Olympic Games are Bellingham, WA and the Whistler, British Columbia areas.  Bellingham is about sixty miles from Vancouver.  Both Amtrak Cascades and Greyhound bus service are available to Vancouver many times a day.  If mountain sports are the focus of your visit, you may wish to stay in the Whistler area.  There is Greyhound Canada …
