Popular RV Destinations in California

Popular RV Destinations in California

Travelers of all ages flock to the Golden State every year. The wealth of vastly different experiences that the state has to offer is incomparable. California boasts deserts, mountains, beaches, forests, cities, vineyards and a host of other places to discover and explore. Often, the only thing holding people back from visiting is the high price tag. Staying in hotels can really add up, so the best way to cut costs and make your trip memorable is to stay in a California RV resort. Some of the most popular destinations in California are also popular RV destinations, so you can find these resorts almost anywhere you want to be.

– KQ Ranch Resort – In beautiful Julian, California, this California RV resort is a fantastic resort in a very centralized location. The park is very close to San Diego, allowing for easy day trips into the city to explore. It also sits near the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and the Pacific Coast Trail, allowing your inner “granola-girl/boy” to hike along the miles of trails available to stunning lookout points and through ecosystems teeming with life. Also, while most couples are crowding up and touring the vineyards of Napa and Sonoma, you can be indulging in the delightful, pristine vineyards right around Julian like the Menghini Winery or the oldest winery in southern California, Bernardo Winery.

– Emerald Cove RV Resort – On the California side of the winding Colorado River, Emerald Cove is a very family-oriented resort surrounded in amazing panoramic views. Drop the kids off at the River Rats Kids’ Club where the director will entertain them for hours. During the few quiet hours you have earned, spend your time relaxing on the white sandy beach. When you converge again, head out on the lake with the kids for some water sports, or drive over to Quartzsite, AZ, where there are gem and mineral shows, as well as a large flea market full of fossils, gems, and rocks. Your kids can learn a bit of geology and you can pick up a couple of gems for souvenirs, so everyone wins!

– Cherry Valley Lakes – Moments from Palm Springs and less than an hour away from Los Angeles sits Cherry Valley Lakes. Obviously well-situated, the campground offers gorgeous mountain vistas and vibrant night-life all within easy driving distance. This is a resort to truly relax at, fish in the well-stocked lake, and unwind around the campfire with your family and friends. Fabulously beautiful golf courses are within a quick drive as well, and the shops and restaurants of Palm Springs are just around the corner.…

Best Places to Visit on a California Family Vacation

Best Places to Visit on a California Family Vacation

California family vacations take on various guises. It could be a back to nature trip targeting nature parks and wildlife preserves. Or it could be a fun jaunt from one amusement park to another. It could even be a drive down history lane in search of elusive facts that the history books refuse to detail. Then again, it could be a momentous tour that incorporates all of this and more. The only things certain about a California family vacation would be the enormous element of fun and all pervading sunshine.

As long as there’s Disneyland in California and you have kids, the two shall meet, possibly more than once. This would be the unwritten law as far as California family vacations are concerned. Now add Pier 39, Yosemite National Park, Legoland, San Diego Zoo, and Sea World Adventure Park to the equation and it tilts in favour of a tour of the whole State rather than just the South. With that beautiful year-round golden sunshine and silver beaches strewn all along the way, why would any one not consider a California family vacation?

You can take your California family vacation down a path less travelled into lesser known destinations like the Shasta Cascade region with its waterfalls and hypnotising rural charm. The Lake Shasta Caverns and Waterworks Park will be huge hits with the kids. Visit the ghost town in Shasta State Historic Park before you slip down to explore downtown Redding.

The northern region has plenty more to offer for a California family vacation. You should definitely visit the Redwood National Park along the coast to see the majestic red wood trees as old as time. Come down to Mount Lassen with its volcanic peaks, the Sacramento Valley, and move across to scenic Lake Tahoe.

Next stop on your California family vacation is the incredibly unique city of San Francisco. From its majestic Golden Gate Bridge to its famous twisted streets, this is one place that will surprise you with its diversity and sheer liveliness. Hop aboard a street car to visit China town or get aboard a boat cruise to explore Alcatraz. Catch the train to Fisherman’s Wharf. This is one town that is fun for the whole family.

Well, when the going gets tough, the kids start screaming. Your California family vacation now gathers momentum as it goes southward to Los Angeles, Anaheim, and San Diego. It’s time for that second wind that adds a renewed zest and flavour to your California family vacation. Disneyland in Anaheim is what the kids where waiting for and here it is. This was the promise that kept them on their best behaviour as you took your time shopping and browsing boring museums. It is an absolute kid pleaser and has been entertaining families of all ages for a long time.

California Resort Has Mexican Beach Feel

California Resort Has Mexican Beach Feel

For those who’ve tried them, Mexican beach resorts are among the most relaxing vacations or getaways one can imagine long stretches of beach, palm trees, a cerveza or margarita never far from one’s grasp. It’s easy to drift along like some white fluffy cloud with your only worry being when the next drink server will come along.

But not many folks can afford to do this very often.Today’s air fare is a little higher than in past years so these aren’t exactly cheap vacations. And it’s hardly worth going to Mexico unless you can stay a week — who has a week anymore to just sit and do nothing?

The answer is to find a similar resort that’s a little closer and, when you eliminate your airfare, a little cheaper. You need to find someplace where you can just hop in your car and drive a few hours, stay two or three days, and get back home just as refreshed as if you’d been to the Mexican Riviera.

You need to check out the Embassy Suites Hotel Mandalay Beach Resort in, of all places, Oxnard, California. This is a California vacation that feels like you’re in the heart of Mexico.

Before we visited the Mandalay Beach Resort, my only recollection of Oxnard was a time when I was 19 years old driving through California with a buddy, eating cans of tuna fish to save money and looking for a place to crash that was just as cheap as cheap could get. We found just such a place in Oxnard, but were too scared of our surroundings to get to sleep.

Fast forward to Oxnard of the New Millennium and, while its tourism infrastructure is not quite complete, the area is fast becoming a popular destination for people who enjoy California beach vacations. About an hour’s drive northwest of Los Angeles, the area is close enough to major population areas to be accessible, yet undeveloped enough to feel like you’re really getting away from the rat race.

Positioned on some of the best real estate in the Oxnard area, the Mandalay Beach Resort is everything that the Oxnard visitor industry wants to be it’s a waterfront playground that has style, lots of amenities, plenty of wide-open spaces and a wide beach that stretches for miles. And, yes, it has plenty of Mexican beer and margaritas.

Traveling Highway 101 northwest from Los Angeles, you’d never imagine that this resort area was just a few miles off the freeway. The urban sprawl along the freeway is not particularly attractive and most people headed north know that an especially spectacular beachside city of Santa Barbara is just another half hour ahead. So it’s no wonder that people just don’t think of Oxnard when they think vacation paradise.

But if you take the Victoria Avenue exit and travel across several miles of agricultural fields, you will come to the Mandalay Beach area, one of many beaches along this part of the coast. The …

Visiting Los Angeles and the surrounding areas could be one of the best and most memorable experiences that you will ever have. For some reason, tourists always like to see the famous Hollywood sign and especially visitors from non-coastal states like to go to the beach and see the Pacific Ocean for the first time.

If you like more of an adrenalin rush of fun and are planning to come to the city of Los Angeles, you will be in reasonable driving distance from several amusement and water parks including Six Flags Magic Mountain, Hurricane Harbor, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Raging Waters and other places like the Los Angeles Zoo and Griffith Park.

If you are really interested in the Film Industry, you can go to the tapings of numerous television shows where you can see your favorite stars live and in person. Or if you prefer to be in front of the camera instead of in the audience, there are several advertisements in newspapers, magazines and posted on telephone poles looking for all kinds of people who want to be background Extras in movies, television shows and commercials. No experience is necessary. Be sure to go down Hollywood Boulevard and look on the ground for the stars of your favorite entertainers on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

You can go to Staples Center, home of the 9 time NBA (National Basketball
Association) World Champions Los Angeles Lakers. Magic Johnson has moved on from playing professional basketball, but you will still see his name all over Los Angeles. He is involved with a few businesses around town including some 24 Hour Fitness locations, the Magic Johnson Theatres located in the Crenshaw Shopping Center, Starbucks Coffee and Magic Johnson’s TGI Friday’s Restaurant.

Right across the street from the Forum in Inglewood where the Lakers used to play for about 30 years until a few years ago, is the Hollywood Park Race Track and Casino. They only have horse racing a few months out of the year. But you are in “Luck” because the Casino is in full swing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to satisfy your gambling needs. It is one of the few places around here that at least so far, they still have FREE parking.

For Baseball fans you can go to Dodger Stadium, home of the former World Series Champions Los Angeles Dodgers. You would not want to go to Dodger Stadium without eating one of their famous Dodger Dogs.

Not only do we have professional sports champions, we also have our very famous cross town college rivals, the U.C.L.A Bruins and the U.S.C Trojans who have both brought back team championships to the city of Los Angeles and they both have had their students and alumni bring back Gold Medals …
