Guide to Animal Rights

We can say that animals and human beings have some similarities in the sense that they have consciousness and they are also very responsive. Animals have their differences, and they are unique in their own ways, and many pet owners would tell you that each respond differently and they need care and protection too. Since animals are lower than human beings, there are many people who believe that they cannot feel and that we should not be so concerned about animal welfare.

There are many people today who do not care about the lives of animals and they don’t see the animals’ right to life that they deserve. Humans are a lot superior than animals and that is seen in the moral realm also, and there are advocates of this belief. There are also those who don’t believe that animals feel, sense, or experience like humans do and that they should not be give a status equal to humans but lower than them. These beliefs came from a faulty sense of righteousness and entitlements. If people will just overcome their biases, then it all boils that to animals having their own rights in this world.

Living in a clean, safe place where they can survive is another right that should be given to animals. We het a glimpse of the horrors that human beings can do to our natural ecosystem when we find lush rainforests reduced to flat plains and beautiful coral reefs becoming ocean wastelands. Destroying this natural ecosystem deprives many animals of clean and safe living places. This is the reason why the green movement is also closely linked with the animal rights movement.

Using animals for products is perhaps one of the most disconcerting displays of human greed that has grown in popularity. When there is economic incentive, then mortality is disregarded altogether. Some examples of this are poachers, shark finners, and other people who view animals solely as commodities. They are disregarding the basic rights of animals to live in exchange for the dollar sign. Viable alternatives to animal products should be considered if we believe that animals have the right to live free of suffering.

Animal rights activists are very strong in what they believe in. Here are the things that animal rights advocates believe in.

Animals have consciousness and should not be compared to machines or objects. Animals also have interests. Animals interests should be respected by human beings. Animals should not be exploited by human beings. If humans treat animals as objects then they are violating animal rights. Humans have no right to kill animals.

It takes volumes to really cover the scope of animals rights.
